What is Profhilo ®?

Your Complete Guide to Profhilo Treatment

Most of us are familiar with the most common types of injectables – anti-wrinkle injections and dermal filler.  Whilst the traditional types of injectables are ideal for addressing specific facial issues in aesthetics, newer treatments such as Profhilo® and Polynucleotides are filling the gaps when it comes to achieving a more youthful, supple skin.

Here we take a closer look at what is Profhilo®/ It is known as ‘The Injectable Moisturiser’, a treatment that focuses on skin condition by improving hydration, strength and elasticity.

What is Profhilo®?

Profhilo® took the aesthetics industry completely by storm when it launched in 2017.  This wonder treatment plumps and rejuvenates tired, dull and ageing skin, giving you a luminous glow and completely natural looking results.

Profhilo® is a unique product, made from highly purified hyaluronic acid known for its ability to draw and retain water.  When injected into the skin Profhilo® not only deeply hydrates the skin from within, but also works to increase the production of two key structural components which deplete with age, collagen and elastin.  This is what makes it far more effective than any topical moisturiser than contains hyaluronic acid.

How does Profhilo® work?

As we age, our skin cells can’t make collagen and elastin as quickly as they did before.  In fact, from the age of 30 we gradually lose more of these essential structural components of our skin than we replace naturally.  The result is a less plump, less resilient, and less elastic skin.

Profhilo® does not add volume to an area like a traditional filler.  Rather, it works on the structure of the skin, returning it to a more youthful condition.  It not only boosts and hydrates but can significantly reduce fine lines and sagging skin.

It is a relatively quick and painless treatment, involving a number of small injections into the area being treated.  To start with you should have 2 treatments 4-6 weeks apart.  Once you see your results you could leave 4-6 months between each treatment to continue the skin-boosting effect.

Who benefits from a Profhilo® treatment?

Anyone over the age of 30 can expect to see visibly improved skin strength, resilience, elasticity and hydration.  It is suitable for men and women alike.

Profhilo® has quickly established itself as one of the most popular skin-boosting treatments among patients in their 40’s, 50’s and beyond.  Because Profhilo® gives a noticeable improvement in skin condition from within, it combines very well with other more superficial skin enhancing treatments such as medical grade skin care and chemical peels.

How long does Profhilo® last?

Profhilo® lasts in the skin for around 28 days.  During this time hyaluronic acid is slowly released stimulating the production of collagen and elastin.  Within the first few weeks you will see intense hydration, glowing skin, and a reduction in fine lines.  Your skin will feel smoother and tighter.

What areas can be treated?

We commonly use Profhilo® to treat facial areas.  However, Profhilo® can be used to treat any area of the body where the skin lacks vitality and elasticity such as the neck, decolletage, arms, knees and hands.

Can Profhilo® be used under the eyes?

When you receive a treatment of Profhilo® at HGface, we inject the product into 5 specific points on each side of the face
Known as the Bio Aesthetic Points (BAPs), these are the areas where Profhilo os known to produce its best results and improve the condition of your skin.  The BAPs do not include the immediate undereye area, however if dark circles are an issue for you, you might be a candidate for Beautifeye or Polynucletide treatments which are specially designed for this delicate area.

Are there risks with Profhilo®?

Though there are risks involved with all cosmetic procedures, Profhilo® only targets the dermis (upper level of the skin) and is considered low-risk.  Common minor side effects include redness, bruising and small lumps at the injection sites which disappear within 24-72 hours.

You should always have a full consultation before a Profhilo® treatment to assess your individual suitability and to explain any risks any benefits.
