How to love the skin you’re in

Jo Banks • 7 October 2022

Good skin is the new make-up

Would you be comfortable to face the world completely make-up free?  This is such a common goal for many people and a huge reason we invest time and money into experimenting with the latest product and treatments.

There’s no doubt about it.  None of us would say no to having the ‘perfect’ complexion, the ‘clearest’ skin, and a healthy, natural glow that we’re proud to show off, whatever our age.

Whether you’re concerned about lines, acne scars or breakouts, large pores or sunspots, it is possible to feel confident in your own skin.

You can fall in love with your complexion and not hide under heavy foundation.  In fact, at HGface, we believe that ‘good skin is the new make-up.”

So how do we get there?

Medical grade skincare

First off, have a really good look at your skin and think about the main reasons you wear make-up.  Is it to camouflage spots? redness? pigmentation?  Or are you covering up uneven texture and fine lines?

There’s good news.  All these conditions have a fix.  The starting point is medical-grade skincare.  Antioxidants,
retinol, and sunscreen are great starting points.  There really is some very clever science and research that goes into these types of products.

We know how confusing it can be to choose skincare products and very often the most effective ones are not those that you can buy on the high street.  There’s nothing more valuable for skin than getting some
targeted advice from a professional who can tailor skincare exactly for you and help you access the good stuff!

Smooth the skin

Whilst a good home skin routine is the basis of a gorgeous complexion, regular
treatments alongside can really help to rebalance and rejuvenate the skin.  We love microneedling, chemical peels and radiofrequency, all of which can help stimulate collagen, even out the skin texture and help it appear hydrated, radiant and healthy.

Target the problem areas

For many people, concerns like dark circles, thinning lips or flattening cheekbones prevent them from going make-up free.  If this is the case, consider injectable treatments like dermal fillers and skinboosters to restore lost volume, hydrate the skin from within or lighten the under-eye area.

Examples of injectables for the skin are:

Beautifeye
is a great option for dark circles.  It combines hyaluronic acid with vitamins and antioxidants to combat eye bags, dark circles, crepey skin, wrinkles and dehydration.

Profhilo
and Redensity I are both types of injectable hyaluronic acid which give deep moisturisation and stimulate collagen production to give that dewy, natural ‘lit-from-within’ look which means going makeup free is entirely possible.

Nucleofill
– the new kid on the block.  Polynucleotide gel that hydrates and stimulates your skin to generate its own new collagen and elastin.  The very things that give our skin its bounce and firmness.

So we believe that feeling confident make-up free is achievable by taking a staged approach.  Decide what it is that makes you reach for the foundation and seek advice on the best way to target those issues and let your beautiful skin take the spotlight.
